MATT GIBSON

NEWS:

    ~Matt is scheduled to return to The Merry Widow directed by Tony winner Susan Stroman at the Metropolitan Opera in late April/ early May.

  

~He will be joining an all-star cast for a one night only staged concert version of Sweet Smell of Success on May 4th at the Hudson Theatre on 44th Street benefitting the American Cancer Society.  The concert will be directed by John Simpkins and choreographed by Emmy winner Tyce Diorio.


    ~Matt’s production company just finished production on their third independent short film!

 
 

BIO:

    Matt Gibson is a RI native who now lives in New York City.  He’s an actor who sings and dances.

    He’s been acting full time since 2005.  He made his Broadway debut in 2008.

    Matt earned his BFA in drama at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts studying acting on stage and film at CAP21 and Stonestreet Studios.  More recently, he has studied film acting with Bob Krakower, classical text performance with Ian Hersey of the Public Theatre, and vocal performance at Jen Waldman Studios.

    In 2014, Matt became a co-founder of a production company called On the Rocks Films.  The company has worked on five films including two independent shorts that Matt acted in and wrote.

  He's taught master classes in the business of acting, vocal performance, scene study, improv, and song and dance for such organizations as Camp Broadway, Broadway Classroom, Disney Cruise Lines, From Stage and Screen, and R.Evolución Latina.  He's also worked in the entertainment field as a writer, director, choreographer, creative consultant, reader, and audition coach.


FUN FACTS: 

    He has dual citizenship in Ireland and the United States.

    He’s a certified officiant.

    Matt is a Manhattan property owner. 

    Matt was a double major in college.  In addition to his BFA in Drama he earned an honors degree in Journalism from NYU.

    He has a twin brother.
